What's Happening on the Farm

Updated: Sep 27

Hello again everyone! September is almost over and there's definitely a slight chill in the air. I don't know about you, but I love this time of year. Cozy sweaters, fall colours and of course, all things pumpkin spiced :)

We are in the process of starting to put the farm to rest for the winter season and we are always in need of volunteers. If spending a day in nature, surrounded by beautiful fall foliage and flowers sounds nice, we are the place for you! Everyone is welcome and no specific skills are necessary. Any day, any time-we would appreciate the help and promise a fun time. If interested, please email us at veteranfarmprojectsociety@gmail.com.

We had a wonderful time at the MFRC Blue Nose Event on Sept 7th. Although the weather was not exactly the best (can you say sideways rain?), we were so happy to see the turnout. There were over 55 vendors and displays on site and it was great to see everyone. We look forward to this event every year and huge shoutout to Jill and her team at the MFRC for making it happen, especially with all the last minute weather issues.

On Sunday Sept 15th, VFP held the dedication ceremony for our new Greenhouse on the farm. Thanks to the generousity of Royal Canadian Legion Command Nunavut, we were able to not only replace our damaged greenhouse, but we were able to upgrade it as well. Thank you to all our friends and supporters who attended, it was a beautiful day.

Unfortunately we won't be able to start back up with our workshops as we had hoped. Between more work being done on the farm, along with Farmer Jess sustaining a nasty knee injury, the timing is just not right for us.

Our deliveries to the Military Family Resource Centre are ongoing and we've heard back on some feedback from the families. Below are some comments we've received.
