What's Happening at the Farm

July 2024

Hello once again Friends of the Farm.

Summer is in full swing and the farm is bursting with fresh flowers and vegetables. Unfortunately we had some messy weather last week and once again had some localized flooding in the region, but we were lucky to escape any major damage. It was almost a year to the day that we experience some of the worst flooding in this area so everyone was on high alert.

Our farm stand has opened and we are so very grateful to everyone for their support. We are usually open every Saturday from 10-1 or until we sell out. We always post on social media prior to opening so make sure you follow us. The stand is filled with VFP farm produce, Fresh produce from the Valley, Bakers Choice bread products, pantry staples and more. All these items are "take what you need, and donate if you can".

Our fundraising products include our farm fresh flower bouquets @$5, VFP merchandise, delicious preserved products made by women veterans, farm honey, and of course, our popular Cowboy Candy. All monies raised from the stand goes back into the farm and helping Veterans, their families and our community.

If you're in the area, make sure to stop by, take a walk around the farm and go home with some goodies.

We have unfortunately had to suspend our summer workshops due to ongoing construction and upgrades on the farm. We hope to reschedule everything starting in September and we thank you for understanding.

We were very honoured to receive the "Board of Directors Outstanding Commitment Awared" from the Halifax and Region Military Family Resource Centre. VFP has been working with the MFRC for many years, providing food and pantry supplies to veteran families as well as assisting with their on site community pantry's. The letter below is a big reason we love what we do.

Until next month, we hope you all stay safe and have a wonderful summer!
